The eighth episode of the Ken Burns documentary series "The Vietnam War" will conclude with the May 4 shootings at Kent State University in 1970 that left four people dead and nine wounded.

The episode will air at 8 p.m. and again at 10 p.m. Tuesday on WEAO Channel 49 and WVIZ Channel 25.

Burns visited KSU in April 2014 as part of the university's Presidential Speaker Series..

He told Cleveland.com that his visit to KSU, which including a tour of the May 4 Visitors Center, inspired him to make the KSU May 4 experience a full story in the series.

The 10-part, 18-hour series, directed by Burns and Lynn Novick, tells the story of the Vietnam War featuring testimony from nearly 80 witnesses, including Americans who fought in the war and others who opposed it, as well as Vietnamese combatants and civilians from both the winning and losing sides.

The series is available for streaming on the PBS website and PBS apps for smartphones.
