The Kent Free Library has many book clubs meeting in October.

Monday Morning Book Group

Oct. 2 at 11 a.m.: "Radium Girls" by Kate Moore

This book group will meet the first Monday of every month at 11 a.m. No registration is required. Find copies of each month's title at the Check Out Desk.

Read Together Book Group

Oct. 10 at 7 p.m.: "The Trouble with Chickens" by Doreen Cronin

Readers in grades three through five and an adult may take part in a new book group. The goal of this reading group is to encourage reading and child/caregiver interaction.

Registration is required and begins one week in advance of each meeting. Registration closes at 9 p.m. the night before. Space is limited.

Other Worlds Book Club

Oct. 12 at 6 p.m.: "Magyk" by Angie Sage

Fantasy fans in grades five through eight may participate in a new book club. The group has chosen the Septimus Heap series by Angie Sage to explore with book discussions, activities and crafts.

Registration is required and begins one week in advance of each meeting. Registration closes at 9 p.m. the night before.

Thursday Morning Book Group

Oct. 12 at 11 a.m.: "Before We Were Yours" by Lisa Wingate

Join fellow book lovers on the second Thursday of each month at 11 a.m. for a discussion of selected fiction or nonfiction titles. The group welcomes new members. No registration is required. Find copies of each month's title at the Check Out Desk or check out the Ohio Digital Library for a title.

Read the Classics Book Club

Oct. 17 at 7 p.m.: "The Optimist's Daughter" by Eudora Welty

Patrons discuss classic and award-winning works of literature with this high energy group on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.

No registration is required. Copies of each month's title are available at the Check Out Desk.

Treat Your Shelf Book Club

Oct. 23 at 6:30 p.m.: "Fierce Kingdom" by Gin Phillips

Discuss a variety of fiction titles in a fun, laid-back setting. This is an "anything goes" book club with diverse selections that meets the last Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. No registration is required. Find copies of each month's title at the Check Out Desk.

Cookbook Club

Oct, 24 at 6:30 p.m.: Bread

Participants explore food themes through cookbooks. They may select a recipe to make from the library's cookbook collection or make a favorite recipe from one of their own cookbooks. No Internet recipes.

Those attending should bring their dish to share along with a copy of their recipe on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.
